Nano means very, very small - a nanometer is a billionth of a meter. By comparison, the human hair is 100,000 times thicker. The nanoparticles in the sunscreen and mineral cosmetics scatter and refract the light offering SPF properties in color cosmetics that can be used on a daily basis.

Nanotechnology is used by Colorescience to help promote sun protection, prevent photo aging and help the skin look younger and better longer. The sunscreen contains 12% micronized Titanium Dioxide and 12% micronized Zinc Oxide to block UVA and UVB rays; reflect and refract light creating a physical barrier to the skin that does not absorb into the skin. This actually helps to keep the skin cool, even in direct sunlight. The mineral makeup contains 6% zinc oxide and 6% titanium dioxide. The cosmetic line offers SPF 20 in all of the product lines.

A wonderful compliment to the sunscreen is an aromatherapy gem spritzer. The spritzers will help set the sunscreen and refresh skin in the heat of the summer. The spritzers are facial toners and skin refresheners using aromatherapy, gemtherapy and colortherapy all in one. Available in 6 scents.

** With all the nanotechnology warnings lately, we would like to explain the fact that these products are safe and have been researched. The following gives the explanations as to why:

1. Particle sizes 50 nanometers and larger cannot be absorbed into the skin. Colorescience uses particle sizes 50+ nanometers.
2. All of the minerals are coated (Organo Silicone). That in itself protects the particles from being inhaled and from absorbing into the skin. It also waterproofs the particles and increases the particle size.
3. Once different size minerals are blended together, a process called agglomeration occurs. That means the larger and smaller molecules group together to become larger as a whole, sort of like a magnet. So the final particle size is much larger than even the 50+ nanometers because the minerals are now a group.
