A simple walk outside can clear the mind and reduce anxiety.

Aside from our breath, the outdoors is the next easiest way to de-stress. A simple walk outside can clear the mind and reduce anxiety. Between the fresh air, the plethora of color that Mother Nature bestows upon us and the harmonic celebration of bird calls, the outdoors offers a simple way to stay healthy both physically and mentally.

In the short period of warm weather that we are blessed with, I suggest taking your meditation practice outside. If you normally sit or lay during your practice, summer time offers a great opportunity to try a walking meditation. The purpose of a walking meditation is to be present, alert and focused on the activity of walking. As in other meditation techniques, when the mind wanders you simply bring it back to the act of walking. Some places to practice could be parks, country roads or trails or nature centers.

Enjoy the weather and keep practicing.

Don’t forget we are still having morning meditation the first Saturday of the month, and to add to the fun we will be offering an hour long discussion following the meditation starting August 2nd. Topics will vary from the meditation itself to anything related to spirituality, consciousness, law of attraction; bring your ideas, questions and interests!
